The Rowlett Police Department will be seeking qualified individuals to fill police officer positions at various intervals throughout the year.
The next police officer test date will be announced. Application packets will be made available ONLY during announced periods.
Applicants may contact Human Resources at (972)412-6182 Monday through Friday, 8 am – 5 pm to obtain an application. Applications are given out only during the above specified application periods. A link to the applicaton packet will become active during the application period. On acceptance of your mailed in completed application, the Human Resources Department will mail you a study guide. Human Resources is located at 4004 Main Street, Rowlett, TX 75088 (behind City Hall).
The Rowlett Police Department is always looking for qualified individuals to join it's ranks. Rowlett PD is an innovative growing department. Currently with 79 sworn positions, it is estimated that the ranks will swell in the coming decade to keep pace with the rapidly growing population.
Officers in the department are equipped with the latest in high-tech crime fighting equipment including touch-screen mobile computers, patrol rifles and in-car video cameras. Depending on approved appropriations, positions may become open throughout the fiscal year which starts October 1st.
POLICE OFFICER REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or GED and at least one of the following:
o 60 semester hours from a regionally accredited college or university with a “C” or average or better, or
o TCLEOSE Certified or TCLEOSE certifiable (has taken and passed TCLEOSE Basic Peace Officer Exam), or
o Peace License from another State, or 4 years active (not Reserve) military duty in any branch of the United States Armed Forces and an Honorable Discharge.
- At least 21 years of age; no maximum age limit.
- 20/200 vision, correctable to 20/20.
- Valid Texas driver’s license.
- Must be a citizen of the United States of America.
- If applicable, military service with honorable discharge as stipulated on a DD-214.
- No felony or Class B misdemeanor or above convictions.
- Pass written examination with a score of 70% or better.
- Pass background investigation.
- Pass polygraph test.
- Pass psychological test.
- Pass oral interview by Interviewing Board.
- Pass City’s physical examination.
- Pass physical agility test. The City utilizes the following Public Safety Physical Fitness Test Absolute Standards for Municipal Departments as determined by The Cooper Institute for Aerobics Research. These tests and the cutpoints have been validated for municipal police agencies. The cutoffs are the same for both male and female applicants.
