Registered Sex Offenders

In 1995 the Texas Legislature enacted several laws dealing with convicted sex offenders who reside in Texas. In order to keep the public informed when a convicted sex offender moves into their neighborhood, the legislature required the local law enforcement agency to inform the public of sex offenders living within its jurisdiction. This notification is made in the local newspaper for the community. In Rowlett the notifications are printed in the classified legal section of The Rowlett Lakeshore Times and in the The Dallas Morning News.
In addition to the newspaper notice, the Rowlett Police Department gives the public access to further information about sex offenders who reside within our community. Questions concerning this list or any questions regarding registered sex offenders should be directed to Lt. David Nabors, Commander of the Criminal Investigations Division.
The City of Rowlett GIS Department maintains an interactive map-based website on which they track the residences of sex offenders registered in our city. To use this tool simply place a check mark in the box next to the Sex Offenders option and click on Update Map.
If you then position your cursor over the map symbol indicating the residence of a registered sex offender, a tool tip will appear giving detailed information regarding that individual. Clicking the link at the bottom of the information window will take you to the Texas Department of Public Safety Registered Sex Offender Database where additional information may be available.
