The Rowlett Police Department recognizes that our society holds the freedoms of the individual as a fundamental concept. Therefore, we strive to reinforce procedures that serve to ensure public confidence and mutual trust through the provision of services in a fair and equitable fashion; and to protect our officers from unwarranted accusations of misconduct when they act within the dictates of departmental procedures and applicable  law.

Members of this Department will not infringe upon this freedom without just, legal, and necessary cause. Rowlett Police Department General Orders strictly prohibit police officers from engaging in racial profiling.

A copy of the relevant General Order may be viewed on-line by following the link in the gray box above.

The Rowlett Police Department publishes a yearly summary of traffic enforcement events as they relate to racial profiling.  This annual report is also available for download in the link box.

If you feel you have been involved in a traffic enforcement event that may involve racial profiling, you may file a complaint on-line.  The two relevant forms, Affidavit in Any Fact and the Rowlett Police Department Personnel Complaint Form, are available at the right.

They may be submitted by mail, email, or in person.  Alternately, you may contact the police department by telephone and request to speak with any supervisor to file a complaint in person.

The law relating to racial profiling is available for your inspection in the Code of Criminal Procedure section.
